A first-person puzzle game that make use of Philips Hue light bulbs as the core mechanic. Only through interpreting the physical light, can one help Edith on her quest to bring together the many cryptic facets of life.
Edith finds herself in a white space, without any recollection about how she ended up there. This clean, cold harsh environment is filled with puzzles, as well as evil spirits, all hiding in plain sight. The only way to navigate through this space: listen to her own emotions.
This project tries to push the boundaries of convectional games, by integrating external smart devices as part of its core mechanics. The game communicates with a Philips Hue lighting system and continuously conveys crucial ambient information about the current state of the game. These bulbs are a dominant feature and are designed to support the on-going narrative.
The project was part the “Making Games” course at ITU in the autumn of 2019. This course is included in master programme: Games, and all members of the development team were students at the time.
